Rationale of Changes for improvement in History SNC Curriculum (6-8)

  1. Knowledge and Understanding of Events, and People of Past

  2. Cause and Effect of events and Changes of past

  3. Difference, Links and Comparisons within and across the Study Periods

  4. Historical Inquiry and Interpretation

The first one is to explore the facts and knowledge of the past events and people. The next two are constructed on the critical thinking of cause and effect, compare and contrast, and to initiate the process of metacognition of their own behaviour by learning lessons from historical events.

The last domain/strand is included to introduce the learning strategies for history students. This strand comprises the learning of the use of primary and secondary sources of information to collect information. Students are taught to gather evidence for validity, organise information and communicate their findings using historical terminology through timelines, organograms, Venn diagrams, and to produce oral, written, visual, and digital responses.
